Vermont’s picturesque Black River borders this 3,049-square-foot lot. The property includes a decent-sized storage shed where you can stow your recreation equipment and other stuff that won’t fit inside the 396-square-foot house. The main residence is a country cabin with a fireplace, wood paneling, and a second-story sleeping loft. It even has a bathroom with a tub, and a backdoor with a mudroom-type entry.Unique outdoorsy luxury like this is usually located far from most conveniences. George Rose / Getty ImagesChicago breezes its way to the top spot yet again in Condé Nast Traveler’s long-running reader’s-choice poll to crown America’s best big city. The sixth win in a row is a historic streak for the nation’s No. 3 most populous metro, which draws domestic and international travelers with its numerous hotel and home-share offerings, culinary prowess, impressive brewery lineup, architectural originality, and easily walkable neighborhoods reflecting centuries of development and immigration. This year, more than 240,000 readers weighed in on their favorite American cities, and Chicago was ranked first overall for an unprecedented sixth straight year—no other city has been voted the top big city in the U.S. more than three straight times in the 35-year history of this Condé Nast award.“There are 77 neighborhoods to explore, where you’ll find cutting-edge restaurants, chilled-out corner bars, and, no matter where you go, some of the most pleasant people you’ll find anywhere,” wrote editor Joe Thomas.Condé Nast Traveler’s 35th Reader’s Choice Awards for Best Big U.S. City1. SeattleVoters are also loyal to the perennial favorite for America’s best small city: South Carolina’s Charleston.Readers had awarded it the best small city for an incredible 10 consecutive years until it was edged out by Aspen, Colo., in 2021. That swap was not surprising, Condé Nast Traveler editors said, with most travelers seeking out wide-open spaces during earlier stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. But South Carolina’s “Holy City” reclaimed the top position this year, a return that told the editors travel is showing more signs of a return to historical norms.Aspen holds its strong appeal in second place, with Santa Fe, N.M., in third. Read all of the travel mainstay’s reader’s choice awards, which can also be searched by hotel, best airport, recreational features and more. Global cities are also ranked, with readers crowning a onetime colonial silver destination and now an architectural goldmine: San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.Condé Nast Traveler’s 35th Reader’s Choice Awards for Best Small U.S. City1. Wilmington, N.C.The ‘before times’?In the summer of 2022 (arguably the best time to visit a four-season city whose winters can be bitter), Chicago welcomed visitors back to the city in droves. Hotel-room demand approached, and in one segment exceeded, pre-pandemic levels, according to Condé Nast Traveler and the city’s Choose Chicago travel campaign.Total hotel-room demand during the summer months (June, July and August) exceeded 3 million room nights, which is nearly 90% of summer 2019 levels. Summer 2022 group hotel-room demand, which represents rooms occupied specifically by delegates to large meetings and conventions, exceeded summer 2019 levels, with 1.06 million hotel-room nights in summer 2022 compared with 1.03 million in summer 2019.City officials also argued that 2022 has been a banner year for events in Chicago, with the first-ever Sueños Festival in May and the first U.S. Sail Grand Prix Chicago race at Navy Pier in June, not to mention the full return of Chicago mainstays such as concert festival Lollapalooza, the James Beard Awards and the International Manufacturing Trade Show (IMTS), the largest and longest-running tradeshow in North America. Some ‘hellhole’The travel magazine accolade also justified a bit of bragging from local and state politicians. Incumbent Gov. J.B. Pritzker, the Chicago Democrat who faces rural Republican Darren Bailey in November’s election, lobbed back the “hellhole” criticism that his challenger has been known to toss around—mostly referencing crime—of the state’s largest city and voting bloc.Huh, some “hellhole.” https://t.co/kAbkaYv5Bt— JB Pritzker (@JBPritzker) October 4, 2022Bailey, a state senator, last month said he had “moved” to Chicago to “immerse himself” in the culture of the city after critics said an outsider’s complaints about local leadership, crime statistics and the city at large were hollow and that he’d have to govern the whole state if he beats Pritzker. Bailey, in fact, said he had moved into the iconic, high-end former John Hancock Center tower along Chicago’s most heavily touristed shopping street, Michigan Avenue. His real-estate choice raised comparisons and contradictions to a historical sleepover, or political stunt depending on who’s asked, when the late former mayor Jane Byrne moved into the public housing development known as Cabrini-Green for a few days in the early 1980s. Bailey had argued his point from an impromptu press conference at the site where two tourists had been mugged.Old South meets new?As for Charleston, its dining scene again gives it the edge. “Excellent restaurants” and “delicious food” were mentioned in countless survey responses, with particular attention paid to seafood, sweet tea and hearty breakfasts, the editors said. And for anyone desiring a recommendation, Condé Nast Traveler readers are big fans of both classic stays like French Quarter Inn and Wentworth Mansion, as well as newer openings like the Dewberry Charleston (“wonderful hotel with a beautiful view on rooftop bar”) and the Spectator Hotel.Travelers have a major reason to visit Charleston in 2023, as well: In January, the city will open the highly anticipated International African American Museum (IAAM). The museum has been built upon a former slave trading port, and it will feature artifacts and exhibitions to educate visitors about the African diaspora and how it continues to affect culture, justice and equality. But both that city and many of the Florida destinations making the list do necessitate weather considerations for travelers. Charleston, for one, dodged the worst of what Hurricane Ian packed earlier this month.Ian had been forecast to make a direct hit on Charleston, South Carolina. But in the final hours it unexpectedly moved farther up the coastline.“Charleston really was largely spared by just 20 or 25 miles.” https://t.co/SlLpDFZlMm— NBC News (@NBCNews) October 1, 2022The post This Big City Is America’s Favorite for a Sixth Straight Year, Says Conde Nast Traveler appeared first on Real Estate News & Insights | realtor.com®.

Read More If Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen Divorce, What Happens to Their Real Estate?
Getty Images / MLS via Realtor.comIt looks like it’s game over for Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen.According to Page Six, the seven-time Super Bowl champion and the supermodel have each hired divorce lawyers amid rumors of a crumbling marriage. The couple have been married for 13 years and have two children together. And while news of a divorce hasn’t been officially confirmed by the couple, we have to wonder about the fate of their multimillion-dollar real estate holdings. How would Brady and Bündchen choose to divide up their many homes? Many factors come into play, notes Bruce Ailion, a real estate agent and attorney in the Atlanta metro area. They depend on the state where the couple decide to file for divorce and whether the real estate was acquired before or during their marriage.Per news reports, Brady and Bündchen would likely file in Florida, an equitable distribution state. This means the couple will probably end up with an equitable split of their real estate assets.Of course, an equal split doesn’t mean they’ll have to share the homes. One spouse may get to keep a home in exchange for buying out the other spouse’s share of the home. Brady and Bündchen may also choose to sell certain homes and divide the proceeds.Jennifer Lenz, managing director at Dolly Lenz Real Estate in New York City, agrees that the two will likely go halfsies.“Lawyers have told us they’ll review the prenuptial agreements to make a determination of assets and then will likely appraise all the properties and divide them in an agreeable manner,” Lenz explains. Also part of the equation is whether loans were taken to secure any of the homes.“One party getting an $8 million property with no loan isn’t fair if the other party gets an $8 million house with a $7 million loan attached,” Ailion points out.The photogenic couple have quite a diverse real estate portfolio, from a luxe condo in Manhattan to a hilltop beach home in Costa Rica. Here’s the lowdown on their most high-profile holdings and some predictions as to who will likely take each property should they decide to split their assets.Indian Creek Island property in Florida: BradyThe couple wanted to tear down the house here and start fresh.(Realtor.com)An eco-friendly home was planned for their waterfront property in Florida.(Realtor.com)In December 2020, Brady and Bündchen paid a whopping $17 million for the chance to live in the exclusive seaside enclave known as Billionaire’s Bunker near Miami. This 2-acre property has a 5,100-square-foot house on it already, but the pair planned to demolish the house and start over with their own eco-friendly design. However, with news now circulating of the couple’s split, it seems construction on the property has halted.Since Brady is currently the quarterback for the Buccaneers, who are based in Tampa, FL, we likely see him taking this property, especially if he surprises us all (again) and decides to play in the NFL for yet another year.New York City condo: BündchenBrady and Bündchen have owned two condos in this building at 70 Vestry St.(Realtor.com)The pair are partial to this particular building in the Tribeca neighborhood of Manhattan. At one point, they owned two units in the swanky 70 Vestry: a five-bedroom, 4,647-square-foot spread on the 12th floor and a smaller 12th-floor apartment that they bought for $3.5 million.Brady and Bündchen famously unloaded the larger condo last year for $37.8 million, but the pied-à-terre is still in their possession. We’re moving the downtown pied-à-terre into Bündchen’s portfolio since she reportedly splits most of her time between New York City and Miami. The building is known for its luxe amenities, including a private porte cochere entrance, which will surely come in handy to keep out prying paparazzi.Big Sky, MT, retreat: Brady View this post on Instagram A post shared by Tom Brady (@tombrady)Brady has been known to hit the links and enjoy the great outdoors at the ultraexclusive Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, MT, which counts other A-listers like Justin Timberlake, Ben Affleck, and Bill Gates as members.Throughout the years, Brady has posted photos on social media of him spending time at the mountain retreat. It’s not known how much the couple paid for their property there. Small condos start at $5.7 million and can run to $30 million. Plus, members have to pony up $300,000 just to join this club (plus $36,000 a year in dues), as well as own property.Considering Brady has invested years into the club, we see him retaining his membership and the home they own there.Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica: Bündchen View this post on Instagram A post shared by Tom Brady (@tombrady)When the couple wanted to really go off the grid, they’d venture to their Central American home near the beachside town of Santa Teresa. Once a happy place for the pair (they even had a second wedding ceremony there in 2009), it might now be split up or sold.If the court awards the property to anyone, though, it’ll likely be Bündchen, who has called it her “go-to spot.” In 2010, she was photographed at the home by Vogue and told the glossy she and Brady have been vacationing there since 2007.One thing is for sure: This tropical paradise will be an ideal place to recharge after the divorce is finalized and the dust settles.___Watch: Kim Kardashian Reportedly Lists Her Calabasas Condo (Again) and Hidden Hills Home The post If Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen Divorce, What Happens to Their Real Estate? appeared first on Real Estate News & Insights | realtor.com®.

MLS via Realtor.comA waterfront retreat built in 1927 in Fish Creek, WI, is looking for a new owner willing to spend big.The $9,950,000 asking price makes it the most expensive single-family home in the state. Still, it’s a $1,950,000 reduction from the initial list price of $11,900,000.Whoever snaps up this 7.44-acre retreat in Door County would be only the third owner.“It was in the same family until four years ago, when the second owner purchased it. This second owner wanted to divide the property and wasn’t able to, and that’s why he’s selling it,” says listing agent Diane Taillon, of Arbor Crowne Properties.“Cottage Row has always been a coveted road in Fish Creek, from the late 1800s, when all of the wealthy businessmen bought on Cottage Row. They were the largest homes but only for summer use. This property is like a private resort,” she says, noting that it’s on the far end of the road. “The privacy is the greatest privacy I’ve yet to see on a property.”The Clark family—whose patriarch, George Clark, a Chicago stove manufacturer, developed the area around Cottage Row Road—spent summers here. George’s son, Robert, designed and built the family’s property. The compound consists of the main house, guesthouse, boathouse, several outbuildings, a tennis court, and a walled garden. The 3,102-square-foot main house has six bedrooms and 4.5 baths. One of the design details is walls lined with rare cypress wood. Twin staircases to the kitchen remain from when the family hired help.In fact, the home has not been tweaked since 1927.“It’s all original,” says Taillon. “One of the photographers I brought in to photograph [the listing] said this would be the coolest movie set. It’s just from another time in America’s history.”EntryRealtor.comLiving roomRealtor.comEnclosed porchRealtor.comTerraceRealtor.comKitchenRealtor.comGuesthouseRealtor.comBoathouseRealtor.comAerial viewRealtor.comAnother selling point is water access.“If you were to build another house, it could not be this close to the water,” says Taillon. “Nor can you build a boathouse or a pier, because it’s all grandfathered in.”The boathouse, built from lake stone, is one of the county’s largest that is privately owned, according to Taillon. Inside, there’s a fireplace, and the rooftop deck is a boon for anyone who likes to entertain. The property comes with 805 feet of shorefront, which is rare for the region, says Taillon.Fish Creek is a town of around 1,000 year-round residents; it expands greatly during the summer months.“There’s so much shopping and restaurants and lots of activity,” says Taillon. “You can walk into town or bike or take a little golf cart from Cottage Row.”While historically Door County is a summer-home destination, that is changing.“Since COVID, we have had so many buyers buying up here because we live on fresh water and we have a lot of space,” says Taillon. “The lifestyle is what people are seeking out. Our buyers come from the Chicago area and also from Texas and Arizona. Now, we’re getting more from California. They want to get out of the heat, and they like the idea of having so much water around them.”___Watch: This Guitar-Shaped Home in Georgia Is Pretty Rockin’ The post Wisconsin’s Most Expensive Home Is a Gorgeous Waterfront Retreat for $9.95M appeared first on Real Estate News & Insights | realtor.com®.

Magic Numbers Magic Numbers in selling real estate is real. And, in all other markets as well. The prices of goods no matter where you shop are priced to encourage a sale. So, this is where the savvy seller learned to look more competitive with the sale price. Dropping a price just a penny for small items or maybe a dollar on large items the seller is able to place his goods in a lower sales bracket. At least in the mind of the buyer. So, it is not uncommon to see $29.99 instead of $30. Gas stations are notorious for their $1.99 and then another little "9" up in the right hand corner of the price. So, essentially it is one tenth of a cent less than $2.00. But, there is not doubt a consumer might drive the extra distance for that less expensive gas down the road. There are several ways to play with the numbers to create some magic to encourage a sale. In fact it even has a name. It is called Psychological Pricing. But, just knowing how to price an item is not enough. You need someone that can make the numbers work its magic to its full benefit. Magic Numbers in Real Estate In real estate there are two types of magic numbers. The first, as described earlier, is by placing your product into a lower denominational sales bracket by dropping a price a penny or a dollar. The second is by finding that magical sale price number that is not so high a buyer decides to just build themselves. But, not leaving money on the table. In a recent sale a house was listed for $630k. Although, not a bad price for this particular house it bordered the current price of what it might cost per square foot to build a new house. The home received very few showings, even though the realtors were aggressive in selling it for their client. So, they dropped the sale price to $599k. And, just as you would imagine, the number of showings doubled. The original price was too close to what it might cost to build at the current $200 per square foot. A buyer might think they should just build and get exactly what they want. But, the price dropped just below that current build rate so it makes it harder for a buyer to justify going through the hassle of building. Customer Service There has always been a competitive climate in the real estate market. So, many realtors vying for those ready to purchase buyers tend to have a slight sense of possessiveness. But, that does not provide the client with the best service he or she deserves. So, a realtor that puts the clients needs first and foremost will always win the day. And, sometimes that means realtors working together with other realtors to provide the buyer with the best customer service. Realtors Working Together Provides The Buyer The Best Customer Service East Tennessee Market East Tennessee has had a unique real estate history. And, in the past, the area for the most part has had a steady but not heavy growth. Property prices continued to rise as it does almost anywhere. But, not so much that it drove buyers away. Lake side properties grew in value the most as folks from other states found refuge from city. Often, driven to east Tennessee due to over populated cities and high taxes. And, often to the chagrin of locals who would not pay the price "Yankees" (which is anyone not from here) would pay for a piece of property they could have purchased a few years ago for a quarter of what it sold for now. In the past year or so as real estate values in what many once called flyover country has seen a tremendous amount of growth. And, the east Tennessee area is not an exception. Folks from places like California and New York are looking for less intrusive lifestyles like what is found in east Tennessee. This is where it might take a village of realtors to aide the out of state clients to give them the best customer service they can get. Traditional Approach to Picking Home Plans For years when it came time to build a new home, the first order of business is to pick out a floor plan. Building plans range from the box-like conventional rancher-style house sitting on a flat lot to large mansions built on the side of a cliff. Traditionally, you work with a general residential contractor on pricing and timelines and you are in business. But, times are changing. There has been a shift in how we as a society approach building our new dream home. For those with efficiency and budget in mind, they have found stepping away from the traditional approach could save big bucks. So, builders and plan providers have shifted to meet those needs. One of the options is the barndominium. This option is how breaking from traditional builds to barndominiums can save you on construction costs The Barndominium Commercial construction square foot costs have often stayed well below residential construction square foot prices. So, the barndominium adopts several of these building techniques. The first money-saving feature is the design costs. Barndominiums are much simpler, often with fewer corners than custom-built houses. If you ever built a home you realize those corners are costly. So, using the geometry you learned in high school you can quickly calculate that each additional corner in a home not only adds costly lineal feet but it also takes away valuable living square feet. Thus, the square, having the most area using the least amount of perimeter (lineal feet) is the best base. Barndominium Structure Barndominiums more often than not are not a perfect square but they come close. Another barndominium attribute is they are often built on a slab. And, this is another good way to cut costs if your site allows for such a build. Also, some barndominiums are actually steel buildings. But, unlike your local retail dollar store, the exterior finishes will add the home feel. Often, these type of buildings comes in predetermined-sized kits. Once the concrete is poured, within just a few days you can have the building erected. Including, roof and skin. Other barndominiums start out as what is known as a pole barn. Pole barns also go up quickly. And are a less expensive way to get a structure to dry-in stage in a short amount of time. Barndominiums at Cedar Pond Farms Cedar Pond Farms has taken a unique and creative ways to separate from the traditional paths other builders take. So, when we rent out our facilities we want our visitors to feel welcomed and comfortable. But, we also want them to remember their time with us as an experience. So, they look forward to coming back to time and time again. Read More4 Reasons to Always Hire a Real Estate Agent When Purchasing a Home
If you're on the hunt for a new home, it's easy to feel intimidated. While the current real estate market is booming, that can be a challenge for many buyers. You may not even know where to start, especially if you've never purchased a home before. Fortunately, there is a simple shortcut to finding the right home: working with a real estate agent. Technically speaking, you don't have to work with a real estate agent when finding a house. But with over 3 million active real estate licensees currently available in the United States, according to the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials, there are a few reasons why you may want to consider it. Here are just four reasons why you should have a qualified real estate agent by your side when you're buying a home. 1. Save Time Time isn't on your side when you're house hunting. In fact, lots of people only have a few months, if that, to find and close on a house. A real estate agent can cut through the homes that aren't worth your time and help you find a house that is exactly what you're looking for. Additionally, a real estate agent has access to resources like a local MLS, which will enable them to compile a list of homes for you more efficiently. 2. Save Money If you want to save money on a house, you should work with a real estate agent. A good real estate agent will not only stick to your budget, but help you negotiate with sellers in order to get the best deal possible. They can also keep you from overspending on a house that's likely to have underlying issues or getting involved in a bidding war that you aren't likely to win without great sacrifice. Although agents do earn a commission from the sale, their expertise can ultimately help you spend less overall. 3. Better Options Thanks to their use of resources like a local MLS, real estate agents are much more aware of the types of houses available in your area. They will be able to find homes that you didn't even realize were available and potentially locate the house of your dreams. They'll have learned the tips and tricks of the trade that can help you find available properties that might not be open to the masses. That's especially true if they're working with other clients looking to sell their current homes! 4. Less Work It takes a lot of effort to find a house. If you try to find a home on your own, you may spend months search online, only to end up with nothing but frustration. A real estate agent can use a local MLS to locate homes for you. In other words, they'll do all the grunt work by locating available properties, setting up appointments, and negotiating with the seller's agent. It really is a full-time job, so don't take that burden on by yourself. Looking for a home? Don't do so without a real estate agent. To learn more about how we can help, get in touch with us today.
Read More3 Signs It's Time to Sell Your Home and Move
It can be difficult to make the final decision when it comes to selling your house. Many people find themselves torn about moving -- for understandable reasons. Moving can be challenging, even when you're staying within the same community. It can be difficult to decide between the houses for sale in the area you're moving to. For that matter, it can be challenging to handle your move in an emotional sense, especially since the typical home seller has been in their current house for eight years. But there are a lot of advantages that come with selling your home and moving. With that being said, let's look into some of the signs that it's time to sell your house and move to a new one. 1. It's Time to Upgrade or Downsize If you've had some recent changes in your family, or you're planning to make certain changes, you may want to begin looking for houses for sale that better suit your needs. For example, if you have a new baby on the way, it may be time to move to a house that has more bedrooms and shared living space. Conversely, if you're getting older and your children have fully left the nest, it may be time for you to downsize. If you're feeling like your current home simply can't grow and change with you, it might be worth considering whether moving to a new home is the better option. 2. You Need to Cut Costs Perhaps you've experienced changes to your yearly income. One of the best ways that you can give yourself a financial boost and cut your monthly costs is by moving to a different house. This doesn't even necessarily mean that you'll be moving to a smaller house, though smaller homes typically come with lower utility bills. Moving to a less expensive area could trim your costs significantly and provide a better quality of life overall. 3. You're Seeking New Job Opportunities One of the major reasons why people move to new areas seeking houses for sale is because they're looking for new job opportunities or pursuing new opportunities that have been offered to them. If you're being given the chance to move up in your career, selling your house and moving could be well worth it -- especially if your current area provides you with little room to grow your career. No matter why you're looking to move and sell your house, your reasons are valid. Moving can mark an exciting new chapter in your life. Approach it with a positive attitude and you may be surprised by what happens! When you need help finding the perfect house for this next stage in your life, we're here to help. Read MoreNew or Existing: Which Home Purchase Is Right For You?
While searching local homes for sale, you may be wondering whether to purchase a new or existing home. Approximately 5.64 million existing homes were sold during 2020, according to data from the National Association of Realtors. The current real estate market can be quite competitive, which means buyers need all of the help they can get. Below, you'll find our buyer's guide to finding local homes for sale -- and choosing between new versus existing houses during your search. Here's what you need to know. New vs. Old: What's the Difference? Before exploring local homes for sale, check out the details below to learn the difference between buying a new home and an existing one. Buying a new home: Brand new homes are move-in ready with new features. Some may include smart technology or eco-friendly elements. To get everything new and ready for move-in, you'll end up spending a bit more upfront. While there may be certain things you'll eventually want to fix or change, the upside here is that a new home shouldn't need any major repairs right away. Buying an old home: Older homes often need major repairs, which can get expensive quickly. However, this could make the home sell at an affordable price and allow you to renovate it exactly how you want to. A bonus to older homes is that you can find one in an excellent location. You'll also be able to obtain a home with charm and features that were built to last, which are harder to come by with new builds. With newer homes, you'll most likely work with the builder, which can go a lot smoother than a homeowner that feels their home is worth more than it is. It's less stressful and you can move in much sooner, assuming there are no delays with the building process. With older homes, you'll have to work out an agreement about the closing date and when you can move in. Some homeowners won't come down on price even though there are significant issues with the home. You may not be able move in until the seller has found a new home or certain stipulations have been met by either party. Ultimately, it comes down to what you want in your next home. Can you afford that new home with all of the newest bells and whistles, or would you rather get the older home in an ideal location that needs a few renovations or repairs? Every person looking at local homes for sale wants something different. List your priorities and make sure to keep your expectations as realistic as possible. Read More7 Questions to Ask Prospective Realtors
There are many things that people think of when they're considering buying or selling a home, but choosing the right realtor can be one of the most important. Those who choose to work with an experienced and knowledgeable agent may find themselves saving time and money, as well as navigating through what could otherwise be confusing processes. Here are seven questions to ask any realtor you might be considering working with. 1. How Long Have You Been Working as a Realtor? The amount of experience a realtor has can be indicative of their expertise in the field. Someone who has been practicing for a while will likely have more knowledge about the industry and how to help you successfully buy or sell your home. 2. What Is Your Success Rate? When considering any professional, it's important to know their success rate. Ask the realtor how often they have helped buyers buy a home that met their expectations and how often sellers received the price they were hoping for. 3. What Is Your Specialty? Not all realtors are created equal. Some may specialize in working with buyers, while others may work mainly with sellers. It's important to find someone whose specialty aligns with your needs and goals. 4. What Are Your Fees? Realtors typically charge a commission for their services, which is usually a percentage of the home's sale price. Be sure to ask the realtor about their fees upfront, so there are no surprises later. 5. What Kind of Training Do You Have? Look for a realtor who actively keeps up with industry trends and is well-versed in the latest technology, as these can often make a big difference in their success. 6. How Familiar Are You with the Area? A good realtor should be intimately familiar with the neighborhoods where you're looking to buy or sell a home. Ask them about their experience working in that particular market and what they think of the current housing climate. 7. Do You Have Any Other Clients I Could Talk To? One of the best ways to get a feel for whether or not a realtor is the right fit is to speak with their past clients. Ask the realtor if they have any references you could speak to and see what their experiences were like working with them. Generation X (born between 1965 and 1979) makes up the greatest number of homebuyers in the United States. So, if you are a member of Gen X or any other generation and are planning to purchase or sell a home in the near future, it is important that you do your research before selecting a realtor. Ask around and interview several candidates before making your decision. The questions above will help get you started.

Debt also influences your financial preparedness. Lenders will evaluate your debt-to-income (DTI) ratio to decide whether you should be given a mortgage. A higher DTI of more than 40% will prevent you from getting a mortgage. Therefore, the right time to buy a house is when you have enough savings and good credit and DTI scores. How is Your Job Stability? Having safe job security means that you can't be cut off from your employment position even if the employer lays off employees because of outside forces. You can't buy a house if your job security is at stake because you risk running out of money. Also, having a stable job will also allow you to pay your mortgage. It is best to buy a house when your job is stable and your income is steady. What are the Current Market Trends? Like any business activity, demand and supply play a huge role in determining when the right time is for you to buy a house. It would be best to buy a house when the supply is high and the demand is low. This will help you find an affordable house without spending much time and energy searching the housing market. It is the right time to buy a house if you meet these factors. Contact a real estate agent today if you want to buy a house or have any questions.
